818 MAHJ was born from a simple but powerful belief: that Mahjong is so much more than a game. It’s a reason to gather. A reason to laugh. A reason to put down your phone, sit across from someone, and actually connect.

We’re a premiere LA-based Mahjong community bringing together players across the 818. From Calabasas, Westlake Village, Malibu, Lake Sherwood, Agoura Hills, Woodland Hills and beyond. We create fun, elevated, social, experiences that feel as good as the company you keep.

What We Do: Whether you’ve never touched a tile or you’ve been playing for years, there’s a seat at our table for you.

We offer: Lessons — learn the game from scratch or sharpen your skills in a welcoming, relaxed setting.

Open Play — drop in, meet new people, and enjoy a great game.

Leagues — join a recurring community of players who show up, week after week.

Private Events— birthdays, bachelorettes, girls’ nights, corporate events, and party book events, we bring the tiles to you.

Retreats — our most elevated experience, bringing the community together for unforgettable Mahjong weekends.

Hi, I'm Michal

I started 818 MAHJ because of what happens around the table.

What began as a few friends and a set of tiles turned into something I didn't expect: women who arrive as strangers and leave with plans for next week. No one comes for the tiles, exactly. They come for the two hours that are entirely their own.

I'm a Certified American Mahjong Instructor trained by Mahjong Molly, a mom of two boys, and a firm believer that you're never too busy for a standing date with your people. Whether you've never touched a tile or you've been playing for decades, there's a seat for you here.
